Hi Dr Chao, I saw on your website that injecting 肉毒桿菌 around the eyes can make the eyes bigger. Is this Botox? But I heard that injecting Botox is not permanent, and you have to go back inject it again and again, is this true? (if true, then how long does it last for until you have to inject it again?) Also, can people with allergic skin inject 肉毒桿菌 too? Do the eyes look swollen after injection, and how long does it take until my eyes can look 'normal' (not swollen) again? Thanks!

Dear chichi, It is botulinum toxin type A. The most popular product is Botox. Though the effect is only temporary, but it take only 5-10 minutes and need reinjection every half a year. Allergic reaction to Botox is nearly never heard. A small wheal after injection will disappear in about 20 minutes. Yen-Yu Chao, M.D.
